You should really transcode your media to NTSC first, what you are doing is a poor compromise.
Do a search on this board, there is plenty of info on this.

December 28, 2009 at 7:20 pm in reply to: The new IMAC + external HD + capturing video

[Phil Wickham] “………the iMac, how do I capture video onto it? I don’t really want to capture to the Mac’s internal drive, as I will quickly fill it up, although I could copy the videos across once captured…
Aside from having to buy another new cable is there a way of getting round this please?
    ……..”

Hi Phil, you answered your own question,
capture to your internal drive and then copy to your firewire storage and edit from there, never edit from the boot drive.

Try DiskWarrior from Alsoft, a must for all NLE systems.

So, drop the other shoe, what was the solution?

December 10, 2009 at 11:21 am in reply to: Creating (and testing?) NTSC DVD from PAL footage

    [Tom Marcham] “Hi,
What is the best way to do this? I understand it should be easy enough to achieve with Compressor but I’ve read differing advice on the specifics.

Convert in Compressor using frame controls (search this forum)

Also, a problem that occurs to me is that I’ll have no way to test it. So even if I’m confident that I’ve followed the correct procedure and it SHOULD work fine, I won’t know if there is something wrong until it’s been sent to the US?”

Most European DVD players and TVs can play both formats

In App. support>final Cut Pro System Support> trash FCP System ID, and try again.

Can you give us your exact workflow, and post a sreen-shot of your settings?
More often than not, incorrect use of the software is the problem, not a bug.
