I tried to search for the appropriate answer but zip, so!
I am trying to install a copy of FCP Studio 2 vs 6.0.6 to my intel 17″ lap top.
I have all my serial numbers from FCP Version 1.
I enter Studio 2 numbers and it asks me, because it is an upgrade, for my original serial number, I have tried all my numbers, no joy, tried to get help from Apple/FCP, they are tied up.
    Where to turn, Creative Cow . . . H.E.L.P.!
ps FCP Studio 2 is loaded to my desk top as well.

You should contact Apple with an installation issue. Do you have the correct upgrade version?

    All the best,

In App. support>final Cut Pro System Support> trash FCP System ID, and try again.

    Cheers

many thanks Tom, I have been very disciplined in purchasing all my upgrades via Apple, i have struck this before and find it truly frustrating, I know it will work but their install documentation, like media management 🙂 truly sucks, just my opinion on this glorious New Zealand friday.

Jeez John, i bet you can see me blushing from there, thank you. I have certainly enjoyed a truly satisfying career, who would have know. However, I did none of it alone and I am amazed and appreciative that I am in regular contact with all my assistants, those unheralded guys who made me look good, thank you James, Doug, Robbie, Paul and yourgoodself John.

thanks Tom, basically they gave me another serial number which worked just fine and now FCP Studio 2 is up and running, I am about to attach a HD deck and record some footage. Of course straight after this problem was fixed I found all the disks from FCP Studio 1, DUH! But the whole process of dealing with Apple care Support was awesome.
