No, why not keep using FCP7, no new learning curve, a few quirks, but so do others. There is no perfect editor.

Your file size is not the most important choice, output quality is. Your 2nd (above choice) is the best compromise, FCP6 and up will match your time-line settings to the imported codec automatically, so
no rendering required.
