it’s a result of bad lighting. the worse your lighting is, the more grainy your footage will look. this is what happens when your aperture is too large, and your shutter speed is too large, just as any photographer will tell you.

Thanks a lot for your help Craig. I have a few more questions if possible. How do i get an audio setting while encoding MPEG-2 in Compressor? There is not even any audio when I export to MPEG-2. Also, will iDVD re-encode this, or just accept it because it is already an MPEG-2 file?

    Thanks a lot.

is there a quality difference between using iDVD and DVD studio Pro, or just the content of the menu? And, will the movie be playable on a dvd player?

  • can dv codec be put onto a dvd for playback?

yes, joe. I have tried using the remove grain filter, and it still looks horrible. My picture is VERY grainy, not just a little. The grain affects the picture quality too, it is not just because i don’t like the look.

    Thanks for the help Todd,
Wow, that’s a real bummer. I had no idea that it was so expensive to get rolling with even a DECENT picture, as I’ve only been into this stuff for about 1 and a half years. I thought it was just “buy the right computer ad go”. Anyway, thanks again.
