I just don’t understand why they wold shoot video at night? As I also noticed in collateral also, the images are very grainy. It’s not like they got the best quality of images by using video. I mean, a lot of movies are shot at night (film), and look a lot less grainy and a lot more sharp than that. So, why video at night? (Unless michael mann likes the grainy look)?

Try to use color corrector 3way in fcp. It’s fairly nice. I’d lower the black values and raise whites and maybe mids a little. Maybe tint the mids a little blue also.

how do you manage file sequences? Aren’t they all just pictures? Is there a program that comples them?

Thanks for the great tip. I’ll pick that book up tomorrow at Barnes & Noble if they have it. Just wondering, Mr. Wargo, is that a cinealta camera?

Alright. I know that beginners can get a little annoying in this forum, (and I happen to be fairly beginner), but I am very saddened to know that my questions are not welcome in a place full of people that I really look up to and aspire to be. Sure, I’ll head over to the kids forum if you want me to, but D-O N-O-T insult me like I am a fool. You all were in my shoes once before, somewhat naive in your manner and knowledge. But seriously, thanks for making me feel unwelcome at the creative cow, and thanks for showing me that the people I most deeply admire are, in fact, snobs who don’t remember that they were once exactly like me: young, but dying to learn everything possible from the leaders.

I am not pointing any fingers at anyone, and I am not being sappy. Don’t get me wrong, you are all such amazing artists, but I am just saddened by what I see, and will discontinue posting in the creative cow if you all would like.

And to the person who told me to get off of automatic, whoever it was, don’t EVER assume that a person doesn’t know what’s going on. My favorite thing to do is play with the videocamera, play with the 35mm camera, whatever, and you have just crushed me.

p.s. You don’t have to respond. Just think about it.

  • there is no benefit to setting any of the frame resizing filters and that sort, such as detail level, and antialiasing, and motion filtering, and all that crap when encoding with compressor. Just follow a preset and it should look just fine.

For the record: I do have the GL2, but I was given access to a TRV900 and wondered what all the hype was about. Thanks for trying to help me. I’ll look at it in a tv. (I don’t have a video monitor as I’m in high school. Anyway, Would it be acceptable to connect my video to a tv using the TRV900 as an intermediate?
