Thanks, and I did place an order for that one on the DigiStore this morning as well. I am actually using the Avid FX from the Toolkit HD, so that worked nicely.
Are you also using it through the Toolkit for Xpress Pro / Media Composer?

The dvd might not have been finalized then. Those DVDs should play on most normal players if it was finalized in the camcorder. You might try tech support for the camera, and ask how to get the DVD to play on a normal player.
You could try playing the DVD in a tray-loading computer. Those kinds of cameras I avoid. Best to go with a standard, such as miniDV.

Take a look at the Avid Media Composer Adrenaline then.
Perhaps talk to a dealer and see if you can get a demo to see how well it compares to FCP with a Kona HD card if that sounds interesting to you.
Regarding the DVD authoring; There is a new Toolkit said to release in June or somewhere in that area that will have a Blu-Ray capable version of DVDit Pro 6. At this point, I don’t know of any authoring applications that are actually ready for HD-DVD or Blu-Ray with the exception of Sonic Scenarist.
There are very few HD-DVD players out there. The ones that are out look as if they are hand made or something. So SD DVD for now, and hopefully, a lot of the existing low-cost software will soon become HD-DVD or Blu-Ray capable.

avid has recently said that they are going to become within feature parity between Mac and PC. Xpress Pro with with version 5.5 is in sync this June. And the new Media Composer software v2.5 is also in sync. That software should be available in June. There are new price points for you to play with as well. You can buy just the Media Composer software for $4,999.00 now. You can run it just like that, or add hardware depending on what you wish to ingest. This new Media Composer works with the existing analog Mojo or the new Mojo SDI for SD. You can also add either Adrenaline, or Adrenaline with DNxcel.
Call you sales rep, and get more detail on schedule and price points. You might be able to get what you want without going all the way up to Adrenaline right away.

How about a simple DV converter via RCA analog? Will it play on a standard DVD player?

Sounds like a good show Mike! I just flew down to LA a month ago, and my jet’s flaps failed. As a result, the plan could not land. They had to drop all their fuel, and go to LAX for the longer runway just to land the darn thing. They tried landing that thing for 2 hours and made us all quite sick. Otherwise, I’d say hell, I’d hop on a plane to watch that show!
This will become the May DVD then. I’ll look for it when it’s for sale. I’d love to see that RED camera.

When you say HD, do you mean DVCPro 100 HD, and HDV, or something do mean something higher up the food chain?
