I believe I found the culprit.

PluralEyes for PremierePro put files into each of CLPR folders. Deleting the PluralEyes folders solved some problems. Not all, but that’s a start.

Thx for pointing me in the right direction, I never touch the BPAV folders so I didn’t even look.

Some are quite long. 20-50 minutes. Some are shorter.

So avid does not really allow native media editing in a true sense of the word? There’s just too many caveats it seems.

So if I understand it correctly, AMA is not designed for editing but only for quick access? If so, why isn’t it said so explicitly?

i may have found the reason.

i’m using AMA with .mov files that use XDCam EX compression. when i opened an exercise project that uses MXF files the stickiness disappeared.

but it still doesn’t make sense, why advertise AMA capabilities if they don’t work well?

were you able to find an answer to your problem?

i’m running a test version of MC 6 on a Mac Pro and i’m experiencing similar sluggishness with all kinds of commands – play, playhead position, etc., while i have no issues with playback.

I haven’t had time to double check but it definitely runs cooler (considerably) than my other tungsten lights.
