Could they be the pixel grid?
you can only see them when you zoom in.
    to turn off; view/show/pixel grid

I tried the nested sequence and still no image on the deck.
The external video output for HDV is still greyed out.
How do I make it selectable?

I now capture all my hdv directly to pro res. I will try nesting the pro res timeline into an hdv timeline.
I’m not really mastering the project but the plan is to run a projector from the HDV component for a live show next week. This will look a lot better I think than a DVD.
The real problem here is the video doesn’t make it to the deck from FC. It is conforming it now.
    I’ll post with the results.

I’ve tried this multiple times with a nested sequence restarting FC and rebooting with no success. I’ve also tried it with my Sony HDV zu1 camera. I think the problem is in the routing. When I print to video I get a message about it not being routed right. It seems to me the video should be routed to an HDV output instead of the Desktop preview. When I go there to reset the HDV outputs are all greyed out.
How do I get this to be selectable?

I’ll give this a try. back in FC5 Apple told it wasn’t possible.
So, this is the first news I’ve heard of this update.

    Thanks

I do have After Effects but I don’t use it much.
When I used smooth cam on this same HDV footage in FC6 it all work very nicely. some of it is helicopter aerials.
I’m pretty much locked into capturing thru firewire HDV with the z1. I would have to up convert in compressor after capture. It seems to work if I convert to 442 HQ, so I’ll try it with some of the other codecs like DVCPro HD. At least it works with some of the codecs.

    Thanks

OK, I answered my own question by accident. Turns out to be Apple simple, totally obscure.
Open Compressor drag custom presets from Compressor to a folder on another drive.
When booted to the new drive drag them from the folder to the custom in Compressor.

I typically do use the time to surf the net and answer email.
However there have been times when I start capture then leave for an hour or so. When I come back
it gets stuck at the end of the footage and won’t close.

I set up my Mac Pro with a Raid like you mentioned to hold my video projects, then later reconfigured it to use drive 2,3,&4 with 500 meg drives. It’s been working well for over a year. I’m clocking data read & write speed of around 116 MB per sec at 2/3 full.
