Turn off Time Machine in Preferences.
You shouldn’t have to reformat if you don’t want to loose your back up.
I keep mine running and at the same time I will copy some large project files temporarily. Time Machine doesn’t seem to mind.

Thanks for the reminder about limits. I don’t thin NTFS has a size limit.
I am cutting this file into quarters making each 3.85 GB and it works.
This will make delivery easier also. I can just drop the files on a data DVD.

At this point I’m just converting it on my MAC and trying to run it their.
I used to edit on the pc and they had some kind of extra file that tied the smallers parts into one file. If seen something like that with a ,mov file. This could be the problem.
I’ll try breaking it into 4 pieces and see if it helps.

I tried an export and it looked good in QT playback.
So the FC monitoring is the problem? Not the actual video.

  • If you want to modify the image then you are doing it the best way I know of.
If you don’t need to modify, then make a freeze frame in FC. click on timeline, Modify/ Make Freeze Frame then drag it to the time line.

You just copy your new fonts into the Macintosh/Library/Fonts folder.
They will then appear in PS & any other text program. I found out by observation you can use tru type fonts on the Mac.

In Windows go to control panel/fonts and use the install feature.

I don’t usually mess with the transcode options in compressor. Most of the time I use the dvd 120 min presets.

    I have a quad core.
A freind showed me how to do that on Tiger.
I tried it on Leopard but it didn’t seem to work any faster.
I might not have done it correctly.
I’m not sure really how to set it up.

December 30, 2007 at 5:59 pm in reply to: G-Raid2 performance

Thanks for responses to my post. After testing my set up, it proves out that more firewire drives slow the firewire system. I didn’t know the 800 bus is connected with the 400 bus.

with only the G-Raid 2 plugged in it performs as advertised.
When more than one firewire is attached all the firewire drives suffer a performance loss.

I will be using the G-raid2 for transferring projects to another off site system so it still has value. For performance I have 3 internal drives striped in raid 0 and I get around 200 MB per second read and write.
