for any one who has this problem, I have updated media encoder to 5.5.1.12 and it seems to have solved the problem.

In the field order I have also tried the default: None(Progressive)

yes media encoder zips along at double or better than real time.

I did not know that when I bought the Mac Book or I would have bought a
tower for sure. Does this also apply to FCX? I tried their demo and
was dissapointed in the performance as well as the lack of pro features I was used to in FC7.
I’ve heard that Apple will be discontinuing the Mac Pro towers. That’s one reason they don’t have Thunderbolt.Alan Stephens

dropping the playback res to 1/2 eliminates the jerkyness.
1/2 res on the h.264 still chokes at the beginning and then gets up to speed. My Graphics display is: AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB
I thought that would be pretty good.
The nvidias are more robust?Thx

We’ll that sounds like some good news about FCX. It is rather foreign to work in but I guess I can get used to it if the upgrade it to the level of tools we have come to depend on.
Maybe I’ll go ahead an get Compressor 4.
I actually got one of the mp4 presets in v 3 to work and then not the next time. I’ll see what mpeg stream clip will do.

OK upgrading sounds like its the solution.
Too bad it doesn’t work with FC7.
I tried FCx demo and I won’t be upgrading to it.
FC7 and compressor have both been crashing a lot. Since Apple doesn’t support them any more I may have to go to Adobe. Its only a matter of time before Final cut studio doesn’t work any longer.Thanks

That sounds like a great idea to try Motion 5 first.
Can Motion 5 coexist with Motion 4 on the same computer?
