control click and copy the clip that you want to insert or use to replace the original clip. Move to the clip in your sequence and control click > paste attributes. A box will appear asking you which options you want to paste. The first option under Video should be content. This will replace the clip in the sequence with the clip in the browser and retain all other attributes, such as keyframes. You might want to load the new clip into the browser to set you desired in point, otherwise the paste will use the clips default in point.

Repeat for all clips the client wants replaced.

We have 10 workstations, all of which are configured exactly the same. When sitting at this specific workstation, I have deck control. I can preview the video through a preview monitor. I can monitor audio through control room speakers. The cards control panel is configured exactly the same as all the other workstations. I get no video message on the SDI in 1 and SDI in 2 inputs. I am very confused.

in the control panel. When I go to Log and Capture in FCP, I get no video. I have deck control, but no video.

  • One way to get a white flash between each image is to use the Dip to Color dissolve. By changing the color to white and reducing the dissolve length to a few frames you can get a nice looking flash. . . its a simple, QUICK solution. You could use a filter and keyframe the effect (levels works nice), but its more labor.

June 20, 2008 at 3:07 pm in reply to: Timecode changes after capture

We had a similar problem on several of our workstations. Footage would be logged via log and capture and then when it was batch digitized, the timecode would slip several frames. What we found was that we had accidentally set our Easy Setups incorrectly. We are shooting 29.97 and had our capture preset to 30. It was a drop frame v. non-drop frame issue. When we corrected our capture preset to match our footage the issue was resolved.

    I hope this helps.

I have need to do this for clients who already have DVD’s and want to create a compilation DVD, for example. The program that I use is DVDxDV Pro. It is a fairly inexpensive application that allows you to extract the video from a DVD into a variety of formats. It will not work on copy protected media, but works beautifully on other DVD media.

Thanks Walter. One of the reasons I had not attempted that method was because there are a few sections of the video that is using SD footage (Old B-Roll stock) and I assumed that those pieces would be stretched and/or distorted in some way. Any thoughts on this while I wait for the sequence to render? I am going to try your suggestion.

    Thanks.
