Not what I was hoping for.
One of our issues we keep trying to resolve is ways to locate specific files/media when we have a need. We tried Final Cut Server and that was not a good experience for our house. As we’ve looked at X, it seemed to be ideal because of the media management, smart searches, keyword bins that it uses. But essentially, it does not do what we had understood/hoped it would do. . .

So if I’m understanding what I’m reading, is the following correct?
When Editor 1 launches FCPX, he will only see his events and projects that he has created. In order to view the events or projects of Editor 3, he would have to “mount the SAN” of that editor?
I was hoping and under the impression that any editor, when launching FCPX would be able to see all of the events on the XSAN.
In essence, if an editor is looking for a piece of media, they are going to have to search for it via finder to locate which event it is associated with to know where to pull the clips from, correct? No real/significant difference from FCP7.

[Loren Risker] “If 2 people wanted to work off of the same media, the way I would do that as create events that reference the media in a shared storage, so that each user has unique events but you only need one copy of the media. “
Because I haven’t used X very much, I’m not sure what this really means.
I get the idea of each editor having their own space on the SAN for their Events and Projects. That makes sense.
So there would be another directory for “shared” events?
Would each editor be able to see the other editors events or are they “hidden” from the other editors/workstations?

The folder “web” becomes a subdirectory and would only show if you used the URI https://yourdomain.com/web. You need to move you web files to the root directory on your hosting. Usually in a public_html directory.

July 7, 2011 at 12:23 pm in reply to: Best video format to use on my website – alternates to Flash videoUnfortunately there is not “magic bullet” when it comes to web video, to many competing players. However, the H.264 codec has become increasingly adapted and is the current de facto format for web video. It will play on 90%+ machines and devices (some say 98%).
Encode using the H.264 codec and the .mp4 wrapper. Mac, PC, iPhone, iPad, Flash, Droid can all play this video encode. There are some browsers that will not play it because it is not open source, like FireFox.
For ideal results, you want to encode using the following recommendation: https://camendesign.com/code/video_for_everybody

The best WordPress theme that has a great UI for customizing your site is the Thesis theme. It is a highly recommended theme and has a lot of built in functionality that allows users to make significant modifications without having to touch CSS or code.
Press 75.com has a great theme that is build for the video streaming side of things. Its called On Demand for WordPress. This one may be a good theme for you as well.
If you cant find what your looking for, PM or email me and I’d be happy to help you further.

Absolutely. What are you using for compression? On a Mac or PC? What settings are you using? HD or SD?
