[Craig Seeman] “I’m also going to use with with Discreet Combustion and Discreet Cleaner as well.”

Ouch, you just had to rub it in…

There’s a special place in hell for Autodesk for letting Combustion die. Even the EOL Combustion 2008 still has great features not present in the latest version of After Effects.

They say “it’s just business.” Well, business sucks.

  • [Tony Silanskas] “Well. I just did a test for you and doesn’t look good. Still seems to be the “pathetic 2:2:2:4 pulldown”.”

Thank you for testing. That’s disappointing, but not surprising.

I have to admit that I’m getting a perverse thrill from watching this whole release “strategy” blow up in Apple’s face. In less than 48 hours this has become a bonafide PR disaster for Apple, and for once they deserve every bit of the negative press they’re getting over this. Their deletion of purchaser comments from the Mac App Store just shows their level of desperation as things spin out of control.

In my opinion, releasing what is essentially a beta product while simultaneously pulling a stable, mature, working product off of the shelves was an extremely poor decision on Apple’s part.

Following the analogy, is that to say that those who embrace FCP X are suffering form battered husbands syndrome?

“FCP X only beats me when I deserve it. It’s really nice most of the time, just not when I want to play with others. I shouldn’t be so selfish.”

[Eric Santiago] “and me, the one with the Red shirt(Star Trek theme) 😛
    LOL!”

Reminds me of Eddie Izzard’s great bit about what happens to the guys in red shirts on Star Trek whenever they beam down to a dangerous planet.

This should bring a smile to your face:

June 16, 2011 at 1:12 am in reply to: What FCPX *really* needs

[Richard Herd] “It needs a button for corporate clients: “Make it softer by adding dissolves to every cut” and the “don’t be creative” button.”

Those will be included in the Corporate Plugin Pack along with these other exciting features:

    – “Make my logo bigger” button

    – “Virtual committee” button for randomly generating up to 20 conflicting and poorly articulated opinions on an edit

    – original idea removal tool

    – “de-emote” filter for removing any sign of life from actors’ performances

    – “Make viral video” button

    – Legal disclaimer generator

    – “Make the boss’s girlfriend look and sound like a real actress” filter

June 10, 2011 at 12:00 am in reply to: Reaaalllly Slow Render

[Justin Ford] “I think you mean GB opposed to MB. If you have 50MB left on your drive then this is clearly the culprit.

10 second vs. 30 second render times depend on so many different variables. Very easy for either one to take longer than the other.”

I think you’re missing the satirical nature of Chris’s and Dave’s comments, which reference a model of Mac and a pace of rendering that likely predate your birth…

June 8, 2011 at 8:29 pm in reply to: Is Chicken Little dead?

[Craig Seeman] “Apple would get a lot more positive spin if they skipped presentations and just did rumor leaks.”

Or they could just press the “make viral video” button in FCP X…

[David Roth Weiss] “So, will the Chicken Littles of our world finally cease to fear that the sky is falling?”

No, because everyone knows that Steve Jobs is evil and hates pro users. Even if new versions of Motion and Color are released, Steve Jobs will personally come to your house and uninstall them, then kill your pets and family. Next, he will urinate on your lawn and burn your house down, because that’s just the kind of guy he is.
