If I remember right those are both area emitters, meaning you draw a rectangle and particles are created throughout that rectangle. The larger the area, the more particles are created. Here’s what I suggest:
1) add the area emitter to the stage, but make the rectangle small. Much smaller than you need it.
2) Adjust the emitter “number” graph to 1%
3) Now make the rectangle larger (either by dragging its “handle” on the stage, or changing the “width” and “height” values)
4) When you get it to the size you want, you may have to increase that number value up a bit to fill in the way you want it.
If it’s still creating too many particles, even when set to 1%, you will also need to decrease the “number” value for each particle type.
