    Hi.
I render an AVI in square pixels from a widescreen Vegas project to use as a reference for my PI work. I render it at 873×480. It looks great in PI and my stage setting (project setting) in PI is 873×480 so I don’t need to resize anything.

I do the FX work and after removing the background (not just turning it off) I render a Lagarith .AVI file saving the Alpha and removing the black.

My question is on the Lagarith Output options under “output size” it says “Output Size Set by project settings – 876×480.” But my Project settings are 873×480. I cannot find why this is happening. Any ideas welcome!

Render as a PNG image sequence instead. Many (most?) AVI codecs don’t support weird widths — they need widths that are a multiple of 4 (or 8, or 16 — I can’t remember which).

Alan, Thanks for the response. The reason I am using 873×480 is that when I export a “snapshot” image from my NTSC Widescreen (1.222)Vegas timeline, that is the measurement that results. I can work with PI’s 876×480 just fine, however. Thank you for the additional info on .AVI idiosyncrasies!

In theory there’s no difference between theory and practice but in practice there is.
