I’m not certain that pIRender can do “show alpha”… Hmmm. A couple of things to try:
1) Make sure you maximize the particleIllusion app window so it fills your desktop. This gives you the best chance of doing the render in pI3 itself without launching pIRender.
2) If it’s just too big to do in pI3, use “tint strength” set to 100% with a tint color of white for your emitter, and do a normal render. That will give you something close to what the alpha channel would be, if not exact.

That’s just the “empty” part of the preview window in pIRender. It may look like an alpha “checkerboard”, but it’s nothing. It just shows you that your output image isn’t filling the preview window. Nothing to worry about.

You’re lucky, because dead center is the only place you can “snap” to. Choose the emitter name in the hierarchy so the position graph is displayed. Then r-click in the graph window and “reset”.

If you’re using the latest version (3.0.4 or higher) it’s Win 7 compatible.
You can install/activate on both computers as long as you own both and are the only one using particleIllusion on them.
There’s an “updates” page on our website, or email support at wondertouch dot com for a new download link.

No, the 3.0.1 version on the CD won’t work in Win 7, and may not even install.
But you don’t need to buy anything. Just email support at wondertouch dot com and we’ll send you a new download link.

As long as pI3 ran a couple of times after the update, it doesn’t matter how much you did with it.

The Windows version doesn’t support Quicktime, so you’ll have to choose AVI. I suggest downloading the HuffYUV codec and using that, or create a PNG image sequence.

You didn’t do anything — the MID and Site Codes are generated automatically.
Just click the “activate online” button to generate a new activation code.

I’m looking into why this is happening with 3.0.4.2.
Check the following folder, as backup copies of the exes are made:
Documents/wondertouch/particleIllusion_3/Updates
Then you just need to copy the appropriate backup exe to your particleIllusion 3.0 program folder, and rename it to “particleIllusion.exe”. Same for pIRender.
If that doesn’t work or you can’t find the files or this was too confusing, just download the 3.0.4.1 update installer from our website and run that. It will restore 3.0.4.1.
I’ve removed the 3.0.4.2 update from the server, and will replace it when I have fixed the problem.
