Render 300 frames but only use every other frame?

Increase the Gurgle emitter’s weight (so it falls faster)?

  • Sorry to disappoint, but we won’t be releasing it at IBC, or even making an announcement at IBC.

  • Yes, all owners of particleIllusion 3 will be able to get the plug-in (pIllusion AE) for 1/2 price.

The “gurgle” example on the website is an exact rendering of the “gurgle” emitter preset, but with the bottom cut off. I think you need to increase the emitter “life” value to make the particles live longer.

It’s not ready yet. As soon as it is, you’ll see posts, banners, etc. all over the place. =)

I’m not saying when it will be ready. We’ve set and missed so many deadlines already, so I’m not doing it anymore. One day it will just be available.

There’s no good way to do in pIllusion, since it doesn’t have a “camera”.

Motion’s particle system is roughly equivalent to particleIllusion 2.0 / particleIllusion SE. Particular is 3D and works inside AE, but particleIllusion 3.0 has a LOT more “presets” than Particular, covering a wider range of effects, from what I understand. I don’t use Particular in production work, so I can’t give a more detailed answer — I’d like to hear from people who use both Particular and particleIllusion.

Combustion uses a licensed version of the particleIllusion 2.0 engine. Motion uses a particle system that is similar to particleIllusion, but was developed by Apple.

wondertouch has a collection of particle emitters that work inside Motion, using Motion’s own particle system.

The most advanced particle system is still particleIllusion 3.0 standalone.

In some cases you’d rather step the “Number” property down to 0 instead of using “active”. Also, turning down the visibility of particles to 0 isn’t the most efficient way to get rid of them, because they’re still there taking up computation time even though you can’t see them.
