The Pro Emitters are for 3.0 only, not SE. Most of them are MUCH too complex to be done in SE.

Also, Force objects are 3.0 only.

They’re not in the correct location. Email wondertouch support.

  • Some people have trouble with uncompressed AVI with pIllusion for some reason. I suggest downloading the Huffy UV codec (which is lossless, like ZIP) and using that instead of uncompressed. Either that or export a PNG sequence and use that in pIllusion.

The codec you choose is very important. Windows usually defaults to the old and terrible “Cinepak” codec. Download DivX, xvid, or other modern high-quality codecs and always use those.

Open the pI3 docs, click the “alphabetical listing” option at the top of the left column, then look for Area Emitter Masks.

  • Make sure you understand the tutorial. It does work. Read it over again.

[Elvis Deane] “set the particle type’s Number graph to 900. That will create 900 particles per second”

Not necessarily true, unless you’ve tested it and this is how it works. I never intended the number graph to indicate particles per second or any other measure. All of the graphs are just generic values.

If it works out to particles per second, that’s by accident.

Remember that the emitter “number” scale factor will have an effect on this, as will “number variation”.

August 22, 2006 at 6:41 pm in reply to: human emitter in particle illusion

It’s not really a particle effect, is it? It’s just using an a particle to show an animated particle shape (like the mouse emitter).

So when you ask “can you make a human emitter”, you’re really asking “does anybody have an animated sequence of a human” or “how can I make an animated sequence of a human that I can use in an emitter”.

    Couple of suggestions:

    – Make sure the “don’t use texture RAM…” option in the OpenGL page of the pIllusion preferences is checked.

    – Try using the Huffy UV codec instead of uncompressed. It uses a lossless compression (like ZIP or PNG files do)

    – Try creating a PNG or TGA sequence instead of an uncompressed AVI.

Render the emitters behind him alone with an alpha channel, then mask him without the emitters there, and put it all back together in the comp.
