Mac 3.0.5 should be Feb release. New Pro Emitters should be Feb too. Win 3.0.2 is hopefully March. The rest is TBD (to be determined).

First, don’t use Microsoft AVI — it’s not a good codec. Good ones are DivX (at highest datarates), xvid, and Huffy UV (all free downloads).

The other solution is to install a DV codec so particleIllusion can read your DV files directly.

We’ll be releasing 3.0.2 that supports DV in the next few months.

If you read the “image is not the same size as the stage…” error message, it is self-explanatory. It means that the image or movie you’re loading is larger (or smaller) than the current stage size. If you answer “yes”, the stage size will be adjusted to the size of the movie. If you say “no”, the movie will be “clipped” to the size of the stage.

Here’s what’s in progress, and the probably order of release:

    – particleIllusion 3.0.5 for Mac (Universal Binary)

    – New Pro Emitters

    – particleIllusion 3.0.2 for Windows (with enhanced movie support)

    – pIllusion AE

    – particleIllusion 3.5

Yeah, 3.0.1a will not work in Vista (32 or 64 bit) or XP 64-bit. Email wondertouch support for the fix.

Convert it to a PNG sequence. Use the Huffy UV codec instead. If using DivX, set the data rate as high as possible (on my system, I have DivX 5.05, and have the data rate set to 8 Mbps).

Other option is to install a DV codec and skip the conversion process altogether.

For the record, I amd the other moderators will not answer questions about this issue in this forum. In my experience, anybody who reports not being able to load or save image files in particleIllusion is using an illegal copy of the software.

If you email me at support at wondertouch dot com and you’re a registered owner of the software, I’ll be glad to help you out.

January 25, 2007 at 1:59 pm in reply to: What are the differences?

3.0.1b is the new demo version. The only difference between it and 3.0.1a (the current released purchased version) is that 3.0.1b can import After Effects 7 data without having to edit the data first.

3.0.1b will disappear as soon as 3.0.2 is finished. 3.0.2 will provide the enhanced movie file support that I’ve been promising for so long. I’m hoping to have 3.0.2 released (or at least in beta testing) by the end of February.

  • Ah, but what if the QuickLoad menu changed to prevent the need for scrolling? Perhaps using a folder structure for submenus?
