    Thanks Charles,

I experimeted with TMPGEnc but you need a plugin to read the QT files. I downloaded a freebie plug called QTReader which sort of works -the resulting mpg1 files play well in QT but are very flakey in WMP (and presumabably PowerPoint)

I’ll give the lite ProCoder a go, but I don’t think my collegues will like the idea of SPENDING on this!

    Regards

I’m fairly new to macs and FCP having just ug’d to FCP5 specifically for a HDV 1080 50i.

I can only find the 1280×720 option in compressor2. I asssume it does do the full 1920 or 1440 option. Can you guide me through it please.

    Thanks

I do have the SDI board fitted but unfortunately it doesn’t support embedded audio, just separate AES/EBU. The IO EBU output is fine when fed to a Sony pro audio unit, but the JVC deck just wont see it.

I remember a few years ago when I connected an early Fast 601 to the D9 (its a D750 BTW) the same thing happened. It worked fine with Sony’s EBU on Digibeta but not with the D750 until Fast rewrote the drivers.

I assume the same thing’s happened here and that there is a slight difference between the JVC and Sony implimentation of the EBU spec.

I’ve recently loaded Tiger and FCP5 so will can try the latest AJA drivers now.

    Thanks Jerry,

I’ll give it a try but it was 1.1 that I downloaded from the Boris site.

I take it that you have no problems with this then?

    Thanks Walter,

I was hoping it was going to be that simple. I certainly was planning to make sure that all the media would remain well managed.

Because of your, and other posts, I’ve been very reluctant to experiment with the media manager. Do you have a few ‘safe’ tips for a relative newbie to FCP (4.5)
