    Andrew,

Currently in both of our systems (dual xeon and intel dual core) we use an on-board sata raid-0 contoller and an external raid-0 with an internal PCI-X sata-2 host card plugged into a multiport box. We are ingesting SD via a decklink multibridge unit.

    Erik,

My guess is that it is not. Part of the “lower” priced, or some would say scaled down version of this AXIO system is that it is 8-bit and that is it.

    Chris,

What’s your feeling on working in HD with 8-bit only?

    Ted,

It will offer a slew of effects. Something Decklink does not have. Effects aside, having worked with both Decklink and Matrox, you’ll have to decide if gainig Matrox 3D effects, limited to 8-bit, and shelling out an extra $2K more is worth it. I’ve used a Matrox system for 5 years and apart from little gremlins from time to time that would pop up, it served me well. I’ve only been using Decklink for about six months and so far I’m happy with the results it gives me. My only issue is not building the right system for the unit I purchased (its something I’m fixing this week), other than that I’m pretty happy with the system. It really comes down a personal decision, some research and hopefully someone a bit more knowledgable then myself. Good luck with which ever system you decide to build. Oh, I almost forgot that within the next 2-weeks I too will be purchasing an Multibridge Extreme unit to go along with my Multibridge SD.

    Cadge31,

Everyone can offer their opinion what they think is the best system, but in reality you first have to decide on how you plan on ingesting video into your system and how you plan on outputing a finished product. If you plan on using a capture card, then you’ll need to check look at the system requirements of the card maker. If you’re just using firewire in/out then your options are more open. Feedback from sites like this one is good, but in the end you’ll have to decide what is best for you based on funds and preference. So do your homework well.

    Robert,

This all depends on what your input/ouput workflow is like. Also, what is your final product for. No, Decklink will not give you the 3D Flex effects that a RT-X100 offers, but then again they are two different beast.

I posted the above several days ago and I was surpised that no one responded giving the fact there had several threads regarding PM not working in PPro with BM cards. Yesterday I editing one of our weekly golf tips and low and behold I got PM to work. Again! Same as above…ingested all material using Decklink Deck Control and not with Adobe’s capture program. finished the project and was able to trim it without any problem what-so-ever.

Get a Studio Projects “C” series if you can spend around $200.0 (US), or if money is an issue go for the “B” series. Great mics for a very good price. Remember HD/SD is only as good as the audio that goes with it!

    Steve,

I had a bad power supply on my Multibridge, Vegas did replace it, but what I noticed was the female AC cable going into the transformer did not fit that snug. That be your issue.
