So why would you want to capture anamorphic? Any reason aside from the convenience of not having to check the anamorphic box for each clip before viewing it in the viewer or sequence?

    Thanks

    Hello Chris

Thanks for your reply. Things are getting a bit more complex… I unplugged the FW cable, and seen from the BlackMagic Deck Control, things stayed exactly the same, i.e no image when deck is paused, but image when deck is in FW or RW mode…
In FCP however things are worse… I created an easy setup as you suggested, but now I don’t have a feed whether I FW, RW or play at all….

Do you think this could be an issue like a bad card?

    Thanks

Oh, and forgot to mention : since I plugged in the card and installed the decklink software, I don’t get an image into FCP via SDI, unless I’m fast-forwarding the deck…Which seems to mean there is a signal going through, but there is apparently some type of problem for the card to recognize it correctly…

Also, sorry to repost, but I didn’t mention I’m shooting in 25p, not 50i. Is there a better setting for keying? Does FCP have to know about this setting when capturing?

    Thanks

I have a question about this : I’m just testing some captures via Firewire on a AJ-SD930 via Firewire, and the footage looks extremely “DV” whenever I take a look at the individual channels. The FG contours are extremely crunchy.
It was my understanding that by sampling at 4:2:2 the DVCPro codec was much better for keying…
What could I be doing wrong here?

    Thanks

I have another question. I just tested importing footage into FCP from the AJ-SD930 deck. In FCP it all looks good, and shows up as a 720×576 widescreen shot.
However when I bring into AE, I get a very different result that what I get in FCP. First of all the image looks squashed vertically, even though the PAR is 16/9, and second it looks a bit crunchy.
    What could be causing this?
Does FCP have some kind of way to read this footage that AE doesen’t?

    Thanks

Thanks to all for the replies.

The part that got me scratching my head was the 12bit. I didn’t see how this was possible.
So I guess I’ll be comparing the two captures and see if there is any difference when I pull my key….

    Thanks again
