Don’t Risk It…The Sandisk SxS 8GB cards are only $199 now
-
Does it matter if its version on Windows or Mac…I have access to both. Thanks
-
Probably a stupid question on my behalf, but did you make sure that the Full Auto Mode is turned Off?
-
Definitely not a big fan of these 32Gb cards only because I just don’t believe in putting all my eggs in one basket…of course if there was an alternative where I could record to the SxS card and an alternate hard drive simultaneously then I would definitely consider….but as far as I know I don’t think we can record simultaneously with the Phu-60k and the SxS card

Keep me posted if you find any other settings for picture profiles….like you, I had to dig my way around the net to find it..

Personally, I don’t like dealing with color correction in post production primarily because it takes way too much of your time….I would only deal with unless I find it necessary…atleast thats what I think. Personally, I feel that you need to have a good foundation before you can alter anything in post production so thats why I don’t rely on post production completely…..Picture profiles vary according to what you are shooting…I normally shoot corporate videos and weddings….here are my picture profile settings:
Matrix: On, High Saturation, +3
Gamma: 0, Cine 3 ( normally go back and forth b/w cine 3, cine4, standard 3, standard 4)
Black: -5
Black Gamma: -10
Low Key SAT: 0My Gain Settings are -3 (low), 0(medium), 3 Or 6 (high)
As far as the white balance is concerned, I have 2 profiles set….the first one has a preset white of 3200K and the second one has a preset white of 5600K….If you are going to run AWB, I highly recommend buying those white balance cards and trust me do not shoot in “Auto” mode with this camera…the results will be satisfactory, but not exemplary…..

Hey Craig…I heard about this frequency thing vaguely…Can you direct me to some links if you have any that would explain the situation in detail…I understand it has something to do with the analog to digital switch by the gov’t.

Craig…..after what happened to me with the SDHC card (human error or not), I respectfully disagree with you but that is not to say that you are wrong
from my perspective and my situation, I think we are more prone to make human errors while on the shoot primarily because of being under the stress of making sure that we capture the moment in a split second……atleast that seems to be the case for someone like me who is into corporate videos and weddings (unfortunately my 16Gb card error is associated with a wedding which I was covering)….and given those circumstances I certainly would not want to worry about making sure that I have waited 5-7 seconds everytime I stop recording before hitting the record button again…..waiting a couple of seconds with an SxS card is certainly going to reduce the potential for human error far significantly I think…
Sandisks are selling the 8GB SxS cards for around $250 bucks while the Sony 32Gb SxS are around 800 ..which is expensive no doubt but think about it…you have spent $6k-$8k on the camera…might as well $2k more…besides I am not a big fan of 32Gb..why put all your eggs in one basket
-
I am sure you read my post about my Sandisk SDHC card taking a huge ass dump on me 45 minutes into the shoot… look into the Sandisk 8Gb SxS cards…they are a little more expensive than the (card+adapter)….but if you ask me that extra cost is justified since you won’t have the stress of making sure you hit the record button after 5-7 seconds every single time…and I rather go with 8Gb instead of 16 or 32 primarily because that way you are not putting ALL your eggs in one basket
well I am down bout $500 if not more trying to get contents off my SDHC card…..hopefully the data is there..if not all of it then majority of it……If not then I am down $4k and a bad rep for my business…

I don’t think the card was locked…I wish it were that easy….besides the xdcams show a “lock” symbol when you insert a locked card in order to record (sdhc or solid state)….I have made up my mind..I am doing away with this SDHC thing…Sandisk sdhc cards are down the garbage (since i bought them off amazon…likely bad cards) and I am keeping the two transcend cards which I bought from newegg as backups..
Sandisk 8Gb SxS cards are going out a little cheap…I still need to research the cards….but the cost is certainly justified….I really don’t need the stress with the SDHC adapters and cards taking a dump on me during a shoot…More important things to worry about during a shoot instead of that..
Anyhow I thought this data recovery service is everywhere…Found a few in the atlanta downtown area..Will be going there tomorrow to drop off the card
