Wireless handheld mic suggestions?
We’re going to be doing a shoot requiring a handheld mic with some movement, so I find myself looking for a wireless solution to work with our EX cameras. Any suggestions?
I’m strongly considering the Sony UWP-V2 handheld because of price and the compact receiver. What I don’t like is the 1/8″ mini jack on the receiver (although it comes with an adapter cable for XLR). It’s got a rebate available, making it about $100 cheaper than the comparable Sennheiser listed on B&H.
Just looking for some opinions before I spend my boss’ money, I like to do so responsibly.

I use these Sennheiser Evolution G2 100 ENG combo Stick/Lav and for the most part they get the job done. Far from the best, but affordable.

and eagerly await the G3 100 as there are NO available frequencies available in my area that the G2 series uses (with the loss of the 700MHz band). I’ll have to get G3 G Band (A & B bands are ALL in use in my areas).

Hey Craig…I heard about this frequency thing vaguely…Can you direct me to some links if you have any that would explain the situation in detail…I understand it has something to do with the analog to digital switch by the gov’t.

These are the Frequencies available for the Sennheiser G2 in NYC. They are all in the 700MHz band. In other words all gone. There are no clear channels in NYC for wireless mics. While the G3 series with a G Band is supposedly out, no body in NYC carries them yet. Sennheiser has a meaningless rebate for those who have 700MHz mics (C Band) because there’s Nothing to trade them in for yet and June 12 has just passed.
