Io HD can be used to ingest from tape or output to tape via the AJA VTR Xchange application; this allows you to create clips for use in Final Cut Pro X or edit to tape clips exported from Final Cut Pro X. Â At this time, the Io HD does not provide video preview monitoring for Final Cut Pro X.
If you have additional questions, don’t hesitate to contact AJA Technical Support via phone or email.

You should try contacting AJA Technical Support via phone or email for assistance with this.
Please be aware that a scan converter may be outputting a format and frame rate that the Ki Pro does not understand natively. Additionally, you mention RGB; the full size Ki Pro product only supports component analog Y/Pb/Pr input, not RGB.

Important Note: AJA recommends when using the KONA 3 with the KONA 9.0.1 driver under Mac OS X 10.6.8, that you boot your Mac in 64 bit mode. Please refer to the Apple support documentation for advice on how to do this properly:

Since you did not mention which codec you are editing with, it’s possible that the codec is 8-bit and this is why the 10-bit output is not displaying. If you need assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact AJA Technical Support via phone or email.

It is possible that while the warning prompt appeared you were not able to use the transport buttons. Typically, warnings appear due to some issue that blocks recording. In your case, the warning for low power appeared and you did not have enough voltage in the battery for the alarm to clear and then press stop. Most short recordings will still close due to a loss of appropriate voltage, but, as was mentioned before, the “cliff off” of some batteries makes this impossible because the power disappears too quickly.
For information regarding the Custom Clip naming, please refer to the product manual (you mention “Ki Pro”, but you may have a Ki Pro or Ki Pro Mini); both manuals are available from the AJA website. The key parameter that most users err on setting is the 19.3 Use Custom Clip Take parameter. By default, even if a user enables the Custom Clip naming, this parameter is enabled and each subsequent take recorded is incremented with a take number. The Ki Pro and Ki Pro Mini manuals make it as explicit as possible – with a large red “X” icon and the word “Caution!” – that if the Use Custom Clip Take menu parameter is disabled, users must change the name of the clip between takes to avoid possibly overwriting an existing clip. Due to operator errors and/or a misunderstanding of this parameter, AJA will be removing this ability to name the clip virtually anything without a take number appended. In the future, users will be able to custom name clips, but they will always be appended by a take number.
Currently, the Ki Pro and the Ki Pro Mini stop recording when a loss of video signal occurs. AJA is considering adding a “record during loss of video” option, but, be aware that even if this is implemented, you are dealing with a compromised situation where sync, timecode and other important aspects of the signal will likely be compromised; this is why the Ki Pro and Ki Pro Mini were originally designed to stop their recordings when there was a loss of video. A better method would be to stop recording when there are things like battery changes on the camera, etc., but AJA appreciates that this is not always possible and the desire to record through a loss of video.
If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact AJA Technical Support for assistance via phone or email.

If your files are not closing when you lose the video source, either via unplugging the cable or the camera powering down, then you should contact AJA Technical Support to review your configuration.
