This will change the way character animation is done with AE, or at least it will create an entire new type of easier to do animation. and it will allow people who are not great with expressions (for IK) to do some very complex stuff. From what Steve K showed, It really works, and it works well. Yes it requires fixes from you here and there, but it seems very easy to work with. Entirely keyframeable on multiple levels. Not to mention that it seemed fun. It works in realtime, BTW. ANd you can make several passes for fixes and add-on animation.

Frankly, I always have this on. AE is notorious for NOT crashing when this is a problem, and instead, wierd stuff starts to happen – such as Text becoming corrupted. I can only assume that this will become an even bigger problem in AE 8 when more and more of AE’s source files are being generated in AE instead of having to use outside elements (Such as images of shapes from Illustrator, or gradients).
I keep it set to between 15-30 frames for a purge. Always. Just my thing.

Time resolution effects render/preview speed. More pixels are being replaced so it takes longer. In this case, it’s necessary.

For starters, that person is actually twisting in her chair in real life. I think that if you created a gradient from black to white from the top of the screen down, at the time that the twist is playing back, you could displace time, and it would look twisted because different parts of the twist are playing.
I tested this.Made a solid and rotated it in 3D space.
Precomped the rotating layer
Created a solid and Made a gradient using the ramp effect – from white down to black.
Precomped that
with the 2 pre-comps nested in the same comp, add time displacement to the rotating solid precomp.
Bump the time resoultion up a lot – I set mine up to 240 this morning running a test on this, and it cleans it up a lot – but of course it takes a long time to render.
Viola.

darned straight. MP3’s are AE’s nemesis. What;s worse is that they sound fine in AE. You only find out later…
So for anyone coming accross this post: DO NOT USE MP3’s WITH AE – EVER!!!!!

QT with animation compression was not designed to to play on your computer. It may play on higher end machines, but those files are quite large. Thir purpose is to be an asset for final production.
If you want to preview your videos, you have to render them out compressed to be watchable.
All you should care about playing cleanly are your final videos. Not your assets (Source files). You can lower the quality to about 90 with almost no loss in quality. I’d not go below that. Frankly, I’d leave it at 100.

I’m confudes. You were talking about tutorials. Flash is for the Web, though it has many other applications. the creative cow Master Series of DVD’s all use Flash for the interface and video. But it is a computer DVD – not a TV DVD.
All that aside, until your final video, you should be using uncompressed video, or video with a lossless codec – Quicktime with Animation compression is a good starting place.
