while there have been a few quirks reported (nothing a few bug fixes won’t cure in the next patch) you absolutely CAN open older AE files in CS3.

This is not the kind of thing you’d need a 3D tracker. A perspective corner pin track is what you need to do, although AE’s tracker is kind of blah.
I’m actually preparing a tutorial on using Mocha with AE. It is a very solid tracker and can probably pull this off with ease.

Try moving the media files from their original location. AE will open missing the files, but then you can try and replace them one by one until you figure out which one is the culprit.

Are you just playing back 9GB files on your PC, or are you seeing them stuttered after going to tape? Uncompressed video will rarely play well on a PC – you will almost always get staggered (or stuttered) playback. There is too much data hitting your processor at once – which makes it choke.
If you are making videos for the purpose of watching them on a computer, then you need to convert them to a compressed format.
Uncompressed (lossless) video is meant for the purpose of laying off to tape, or as a source for the a compressed final version.

not sure about the house part, but I’d suggest using the pen tool to draw out your motion path on a solid layer and then paste that onto the camera. Make sure the keyframes are roving keyframes, to make sure the motion is smooth.
Also, set the camera to auto-orient along the path. That way, it rotates automatically to follow the motion path.
Just some thoughts.
