Activity Forums Adobe After Effects 3d House

So, after watching Andrew Kramer’s 3D room tutorial, I was curious as to the possibilities of building a 3d house.

    3d room

Obviously it would take a bit more work (ie you’d have to create every wall in PS and make it’s own layer and then lay them out in AE in a 3D workspace) but it seems like you could use this same basic method and take it a bit further.

I guess I’d create the floor first and then duplicate that layer and turn it into the ceiling. After that, you could just do the math and figure out how big each respective wall would have to be.

After all this was done, I’d create a new camera and basically move this camera around through each room.

    Check out my crude sketch!

So, do you fore see any snags or got-chya’s? Would this be possible?

    Thanks.

not sure about the house part, but I’d suggest using the pen tool to draw out your motion path on a solid layer and then paste that onto the camera. Make sure the keyframes are roving keyframes, to make sure the motion is smooth.

Also, set the camera to auto-orient along the path. That way, it rotates automatically to follow the motion path.

    Just some thoughts.

    Good luck.

I’d like to know how this works out for you. Especially because this project would probably not use the motion tile effect to duplicate layers, which I assume means more layer rendering time. How big are your layers (walls, floor etc) and is the rendering manageable?

    thanks,
