    Hi Lawerence,
You’re not alone. This seems like a bug with DVDSP. I’m having the same problem here. Finder recognizes the disk and you can burn data but DVDSP doesn’t read it. I found a tip online where you shut down DVDSP, then put in a disk until finder recognizes it – do not click on the “open in finder button” just ignore that. Then open DVDSP and try burn, it should work… I’ve just done it successfully doing this my side.
    Good luck,

March 4, 2012 at 10:37 pm in reply to: sequence markers not visible in browser

    Hi Jaap,
I just hit a similar problem in FCP7. I was using markers to log certain sections of a clip and for some reason it would only display about 8 of the markers. Any new markers I added would somehow not appear in the browser. As though there were an invisible line in the middle of the browser and any clips below that would not appear. Interestingly when I tried using the up/down arrows to show less or more in the browser window, some of my markers would disappear below the “invisible line” when I tried to show more. This definitely feels like a bug in the software. However when I played around with the ‘view options’ (right click) and selected view as icons and then back to view as list + increasing the font size, this seemed to clear the bug and I can now view all of my markers. Try increasing the font size of the text in your browser and see if that works. Worked for me… good luck!

    Hi Michael,
I’ve been hunting through the posts on SD DVD compatibility as I’m having some issues. My first attempt was encoding the .m2v with VBR – which I then switched the CBR at around 5.5 mbps or lower. Both times the DVD played in my Panasonic Blue Ray Player but not in my friends Samsung Blue Ray Player. The first (VBR) attempt also did not play in a normal SD DVD player even though it did play in my Panasonic Blue Ray player… I’m not sure what I can do to improve the all round compatibility of the SD DVD’s. I’m using DVD-R disks – so probably worth trying DVD+R instead… However I’ve noticed you saying it could be that we with these issues have “authored the disk wrong” could you be a little more specific or provide some guidelines that might help me get on track with authoring? Is DVD+R a more widely compatible option than DVD-R? Do you think there’s a chance that iDVD or Adobe Encore could produce a more stable / compatible disk?
    Many thanks,
    Adrian

    Hi Rodrigo,

Interesting problem. I’ve suffered similar problems working with Flip Cam footage which is also H.264. The approach that seems to have worked best for me is to covert everything first and then edit. However it sounds like you won’t have time for that. If your offline edit is locked can’t you just output a ProResHQ of your time line and then bring that back into Color? If speed is your top priority – this may be the way to go. Another option would be to copy everything that’s on your timeline and paste it into a new BIN in Final Cut – you’ll then effectively have an EDL referencing your used media – it might be possible to re log and transfer the footage (into ProResHQ) using this BIN… I’ve not tried this but maybe worth a shot? I’ll follow with interest – hopefully the legendary Gary Adcock or one of the other Gents will come to the rescue.

    Best wishes,

    Adrian

  • Hey Guys,
Just came across this… has anyone tried it? Looks like it should be a viable solution for $45?

    Hi Brent,
It seems like you resolved your issue with computer based playback. For next time, my suggestion is to try switching the camera to the SQ (25mbps) setting, which is essentially HDV. If you do this you can use a firewire cable to connect the camera to a Mac Book Pro. When you open up iMovie 09 it will recognize the camera as an HDV camera and will allow you to record directly into iMovie. From this you can send your interview/s directly to iDVD and burn them. No idea how long this process would take or how reliable it is – something worth testing in advance and also totally worth recording to the SxS cards simultaneously incase the Mac Book Pro crashes.
    Hope that helps…

    Thanks Rob and Ty!
I appreciate your comments and will take into due consideration. I’m just wondering if you guys could clarify for me the specific differences between something like the Behringer (clearly intended for musicians etc.) and the Sign ENG44 (clearly intended for ENG video). Does one do something that the other does not? It seems like they both do pretty much the same thing, no?
    Many thanks,

August 6, 2008 at 8:22 am in reply to: Lighting for white backdrop

    Hi All,
I’m looking to achieve a similar effect. My concern is that because I have a wide range of unknown snowboarding clothing that I can’t test with – I’ll invariably get clothes with the exact wrong shade of green or some reflective parts in the clothing… so I’m hesitant to use green.
Can anyone recommend a cost effective white photo backdrop paper that has low reflectance and would work as an infinity white backdrop?

    Thanks,
    Adrian
