Did you watch the video where I explain (or try to) what I did in this very topic?

I used a 3D text preset. No masks envolved at all.

Long story short:

1 – Precompose the earth layer and make it 3D.

2 – turn your text 3D as well and position it right in front of your earth precomp.

3 – Apply 3D Rotate around Circle (type it on your effects and presets tab and it should show)

4 – Adjust Z position and the scale of the text so it fits your earth (feels like a god doesn´t it? not really…haha)

5 – It shall then work

I couldn’t really see much but those XX seem to me like something from a plug-in running on demo mode.

But than again the pic is pretty awful.

Are you using some demo plug-in on the scene?

I guess you´re forgeting to turn the 3D switch ON for the layers inside the precomp.

When a comp is inside a comp the Continuous Rasterization changes it´s name to Collapse transformations. Wich is something a little different.

Hi there James. I do that all the time. And just for the heck of it I tryed it just now and it worked.

I don´t really know the answer for your issue but as you said people were saying you can´t do that…well I can….I´m sure you could…

It´s not as precise as premiere or something but you get to the point after getting into the loop for a while as you mentioned adding dave´s ctrl+scrubing.

I´m on windows but I´ll check on the mac upstairs and see if it works there. Then I let you know.

The only thing I can think of is that the times it didn´t work is because you had another panel/area selected (like the annoying ALT shortcut on some applications on windows) but then again it´s a shot in the dark.

Well it was just to make sure you don´t get to think you´re crazy. If you are then that makes two of us.

I´ll try on the Leopard soon.
