    Hi John.

For what I could understand you got your path text layer precomped. Thing is when you precomp a layer the Continuously Rasterize becomes Collapse Transformations. Those two behave in quite a different way.

Collapse Transformations makes you layer behave by the rules of it´s own precomp. So if you have a 1000×1000 precomp on a 720×480 comp and click on CT switch the precomped layer will jump back to it´s original location inside the precomp. Hope I made myself clear. Sorry if I didn´t.

If I didn´t the lovely folks at adobe probably did it better:

Sorry if I missundertood your question mate. Hope I was of some help.

    Cheers!

I don´t know your outcome but I risk to say I would use a duplicate of the “roto-tooled” image (tinted black or white) as a mate for the saber.

    Hope I´m not talking nonsense.

    Cheers!

You can also click the current time indicator and type new time or a time to add or subtract by puting a + or – sign before the value.

    Cheers once again.

Hi there. If I understood you correctly:

    Page Up and Page Down

    and

    Ctrl + left or right

Adding SHIFT before those move you 10 frames instead of 1.

    Also another great shortcut: F1

    Hope it helps.

    Hi there.

Try precomposing the solid that has the stars(and choose move all attributes into the new composition) before masking it.

    Shall do the trick.

    Hope it helps.

    Cheers.

April 8, 2010 at 11:39 pm in reply to: Syncing music in After effects.

Man I think you´re better off staying on VEGAS or trying premiere. AE is not an editing app and that would be a pain to sync a whole video in it.

Only the thought of going to a RAM preview everytime the board hits the ground (or a ledge…or maybe a body on the ground) makes my brain hurt.

The question is: Is this trip really necessary?

You can try to do it visually by selecting the music layer and hiting LL. Then looking at the sound peaks and sincronizing it manually. But then again it would be a pain.

I would stick with a editing app for that.

Well those where my two cents…more like one but anyway.

    Cheers and good luck!

March 23, 2010 at 1:47 am in reply to: proxies

    Hi there Desi.

Did you check the color of your background?

Just for the sake of it check it out. It may be possible that you are rendering your proxies without the alpha channel. That way AE will use the BG color to fill the space where alpha was supposed to be.

If it is red then that´s the problem. Just re-render the proxies making sure you have the RGB+ALPHA enabled on the settings.

If it´s black then I as curious as you to know what in the name of the cow is going on.

Also you could give some more info on the output your using to create your proxies.

    Cheers!

If I got it right I suggest you start by applying one of those presets to the text:

    Fluorescent Light

    Office Light

and then tweakin it to get where you want.

I couldn’t test it here for I´m rendering right now.

But I gess it might give you a kick start.

    Cheers.
