Curious if there is a better method for dealing with non-alike camp and layer sizes, particularly with applied effects than what I’m currently doing.

If I have, for instance a 1080 comp and import a 500×500 Photoshop layer, then apply an effect like a Trapcode Shine, the lighting effect in the Shine will extend only to the 500 x 500 edges, and not to the edges of the comp.

Currently, I go back to Photoshop and enlarge the canvas, then reload or replace the footage in AE. However, when I enlarge the canvas it resets the center of the footage and all my other adjustments to it in AE are amiss. Those aren’t hard to correct, but it sure would be nice if there was some way to tell the footage layer (the PSD file) to extend the effects applied to it to the size of the comp.

    Any insight out there? Thanks!
