How about the POI? It sounds silly but it might be something like that if it´s not the interpolation.

Maybe the point of interest (of the camera) animation keyframes are not holding along with the camera keyframes. So it keeos going and then the camera runs after it.

I might be talking a lot o cow s**t, but it came to my mind.

    Good luck anyways.

    Cheers.

  • Seems to me you´ve rendered it on lossless preset/format.

That is uncompressed. If you wanna keep the DV quality and size you have to change the preset from lossless to Microsoft DV.

Or change format options on the Output Module.

    That is probably the thing.

Hope I was of some help.

    Cheers.

March 25, 2008 at 1:08 am in reply to: swirl line effect

Well, this can be achieved with a simple stroke effect…….combined maybe with some glow.

You can create a solid. Then draw a line on it the way you want the stroke to happen and apply the stroke effect to the solid. Choose the mask as path and on transparent as paint style.

Then you can make your layer (solid) 3D and play around with the camera or even the layer´s rotation/position itself. After that keyframe the start/end points to make it come and go.

You can also add some glow effect to give it a little kick……..

Or you can use trapcode 3D stroke. It´s almost the same stuff but a lot better.(weird way to say something!)

    Hope I could help.

    Cheers.

  • Hi there Malcom,

I guess Maltaannon’s tutorial on creating a CG snake has some good ideas on how to achieve wath you´re lookin’ for:

    https://library.creativecow.net/articles/drozda_jerzy/CGSnake.php

…it involves an animated layer and several layers following it with a given distance. All with expressions. You should take a look.

    All the best.

I don´t know if you already found the answer. I had the same problem but I found the solution on the cow.

    Here´s what you do:

    Open quicktime…
    Go to:

    EDIT/Preferences/QuickTime Preferences

    Advanced Tab

Than click on the “Enable encoding using legacy codecs” checkbox.

Hit apply, close and lauch AE. It should be there now.

    Cheers.

I thought of trapcode particular, a plug in for AE. It has a preset called t_smoketype that might fit your needs. With some adjustments (since it looks like it smoke writing in the sky from planes at first) but I think you can achieve it.

    Hope it helps.

    Cheers.

    I´m really glad it helped.

I can imagine how you felt. I used to think the same thing. When I finally figured that out it was a major relief.

    All the best.

    Hi there Mark.

You can hold the CTRL key and move your text around (for you get a temporary selection tool while holding CTRL). When you let go they CTRL key it goes back to text mode.

You can also press ENTER on your num pad to close the text box and then press V key.

    Hope it helps.

    Cheers.
