Does anybody out there know of a keyboard shortcut to return to the Selection Tool pointer when you are in text tool mode.

I realize usually hitting V on the keyboard will do the job, but not while in text mode… that just add’s a V to your text.

I know in Corel Draw I can hit Ctrl-Spacebar to go from text editing to the selection tool, so I thought AE might have a similar option. I get frustrated every time I have to use my mouse to get out of text mode… finally decided I would post this question.

    Hi there Mark.

You can hold the CTRL key and move your text around (for you get a temporary selection tool while holding CTRL). When you let go they CTRL key it goes back to text mode.

You can also press ENTER on your num pad to close the text box and then press V key.

    Hope it helps.

    Cheers.

    Sweet! Thanks!

    Works perfectly.

You don’t know how long I’ve meant to ask that question. Every time I worked with text I said, “when you get done, get on the Cow and ask somebody”, but I would always forget to.

    Thanks so very much.

    I´m really glad it helped.

I can imagine how you felt. I used to think the same thing. When I finally figured that out it was a major relief.

    All the best.
