  • Pedro,

I should qualify that by saying for DV NTSC the FCP RT engine is optimizes for a 720×480 frame size.

  • Pedro,

The FCP RT engine is optimized for 720×480 frame size!

  • Pedro ,

Andy is correct. If you go to FCP system settings (Shift+Q) and then press the effects handling tab, you will see all the file formats that FCP’s real time engine can handle. Anything outside of this list including non standard setups from the list, will have to be rendered.

  • Jim,

FCP finds AVCHD files difficult to manage if the file structure has been changed in any way.The easiest
way to maintain the camera file structure is to make a disk image of the camera when you connect it to the computer (Finder/Application/Utility/Disk Image). Imagine Products Inc. (https://www.imagineproducts.com/ShotPut.html) have a software product called ShotPut Pro which they market as a Digital Media Offloader. which allows you to backup your camera files to a number of disks simultaneously. the great thing about the software is that it works with any HD Digital Video Media.

    Hope This helps

March 26, 2009 at 1:30 pm in reply to: USB Video Output for FCP on a G5

    Andrew,

Ben’s recomendation of the MXO2 is a good one, but it does depend on your flavor of G5.

Please read the following from the Matrox MXO user Forum:

    Hello

Designed to streamline editing workflow with Apple Final Cut Studio and Adobe Production Premium on MacBook Pros and Mac Pros, Matrox MXO2 provides broadcast-quality input/output, monitoring, and up/down/cross conversion.

The system requirements for the MXO2 are :
    – Support on Apple Intel-based systems and the Leopard O/S (will not work on Tiger).
    – On a laptop, the MXO2 requires to be plugged into the external express/34 slot found on all MBP.
    – The MXO2 requires an internal x1 PCIe card on Apple towers. It cannot be connected to a PCI-X slot.

Therefore, the MXO2 will not be compatible with older G5 models.

    Have a great day

November 7, 2007 at 12:28 am in reply to: Using BCC5 Open GL lens flair in FCP/Motion

    Peter,
Sorry it has taken me so long to reply to your post. I have tried the Bcc5 open GL lens flair on a
G5 dual 2.7 PowerPC and a Two 3.0GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon Mac Pro. both produce the same result.
When a lens flare is applied in a Motion project, (4:3 aspect ratio) it has circular light rings which is what you would expect. if the same Motion project is placed on a 4:3 FCP timeline the rings appear oval shaped, which is not what you would expect. I have a screen grab and a motion project l could send to you if you let me have your email address.

    Great product by the way!!

    regards
    Adrian
