9 GB of RAM is enough for an 8 core machine.
You don’t need to tweak the memory settings.Adolfo Rozenfeld

The same one should work.

You want to leave everything at default settings.
The exception are machines which barely have the needed amount of RAM to enable MP. Not your case.
There’s a newer build of Public Preview available right now.Adolfo Rozenfeld

Yes, the video tutorials are not yet online. They will be when the application ships.

Hey, Timothy 🙂
Regarding new features: you can have the brief version, or the deep thing.
For the very short version, you can download the release notes document for public preview, available in the AE CS3 page on Adobe Labs. For the really deep version, there’s the AE help document 🙂
There’s even a “live”, web-based version which can be commented/extended by users:
https://livedocs.adobe.com/en_US/AfterEffects/8.0/index.htmlWhat I’m trying to do in the Labs forum (and here too when possible) is to introduce some of the new features (especially the not-so-obvious ones) in a more “subjective” way, sort of speak. In other words, try to weight the importance of the different new things, see what creative challenges they address, etc.

AE is debuting a new media handling layer (called MediaCore) in CS3. So MP3s should work fine in the final product. It’s a supported format. It’s disabled for obvious licensing reasons in the Public Preview. In fact, audio previews (including MP3s) are real time now because of this new media handling technology.
Of course, we can discuss if using compressed audio is a good idea, but it still should work. I myself work with uncompressed audio, but… 🙂Adolfo Rozenfeld

As a woraround, you can easily convert your MP3 files to AIFF/WAV using any audio application (even Quicktime Pro or iTunes).Adolfo Rozenfeld

Of course, After Effects CS3 (Public Preview available now for AE 7 users) provides full support for PS layer styles. They come in as editable properties that you can also animate.

It’s much easier, Sebastien.
Select the mask shape path property and copy it.
In the Shape layer add a generic path (Add > Path). Select the shape path property and paste. You will of course need to add stroke and/or fill attributes so that it’s visible.Adolfo Rozenfeld

Photoshop CS3 Extended can import animated 3D models, so there is some form of support for 3D animation in it (you’ll see the playback control buttons when you enter 3D transform mode). What you can’t do is animate 3D properties directly in PS.
The main 3D enhancement in After Effects CS3 is (besides the amazing VPE workflow) the addition of 3D text animation. It’s really, really powerful. You can now spray characters, words and lines all over 3D space, use 3D paths as routes, etc. Really beyond the scope of a single post here. And it has been a top feature request since…. 2D text animator groups debuted in AE6!
