The reason I use this feature is to add graphics or titles, or copy and paste to exact edit points. If I highlight all the tracks, when I copy and paste, it will automatically paste on track 1 covering up whatever is there. So I then have to un-highlight all the tracks except where I want things to go. This takes twice as long as the old way, which was just a a simple, global next edit…no matter what track, just THE next edit. Is there no way to do this without highlighting tracks?

Well, looks like my problem was QT 7.2. I had to do an archive install of the OS to get rid of it. So far so good, but I had to re-install all my drivers…ugh!

I just did an archive install to get 7.1.6 back. Ugh, what a pain. I had to re-install all my drivers, etc. I don’t seem to remember a warning in Software Update about that.

Actually, after completely trashing everything and reinstalling everything…it still didn’t work. Someone on the apple board told me to try compressor and look at this error log file that apparently records everything you do, to try and determine the exact cause of the problem. Well, a couple of days after I reinstalled everything, I tried this, but compressor worked!!! The only thing I’d done in between is restart computer a couple of times. This is great, but I’m totally dumbfounded.

Hey Walter,

With a Kona 2 and an IO LA, would you be able to capture HD-SDI video only from the Kona 2 and the audio analog from the IO LA; from the same HD deck simultaneously? The reason I ask is, the HDCAMs we shoot with have an “emphasis” noise reduction feature, that basically boosts the treble on the camera, then the deck de-empasizes on the way out by the same amount (analog outputs). With embeded audio or AES/EBU, the de-emphasis does not happen, so you get treble/hissy audio, unless you use the analog outputs of the deck. I was able to accomplish this easily with the Cinewave system.

I have turned this feature off on our camera, but older footeage or footage shot by our other division may still have “emphasis” on it.
