Are you using the latest AE plugin (in your C4D>Exchange Plugins folder)?

  • No, Zaxworks has its own 3D engine inside of AE, but not Cinema. OTOH, Zaxworks is a far less capable 3D app.

You shouldn’t have to rerender. Try setting the C4D file to render all frames, then (without rerendering) save the AE file again.

You need a spline in order to extrude. You could trace the outline of your bitmap in Illustrator, or if you have a separate alpha you could try tracing it with Cinema’s Vectorizer object.

Not sure where you can get Nickl, but if you have MoGraph you can use the Random Effector in deformer mode to achieve the same effect. You could also try the Flag Deformer, which is in the base version of Cinema, or you could use animated noise in the displacement channel.

  • You would have to animate the object in Cinema and import the animation. Cinema can export it’s camera, lights, and 3D planes to AE, but not full-3D objects.

If the logo has good contrast you could try it with Cinema’s Vectorizer which attempts to trace bitmaps with splines. Worth a shot anyway–might save you some time.

The first thing I would do is check your HyperNURB objects. By default they’re set to subdivide twice in the editor and three times in the picture viewer. If you have a lot of HN objects that can make a huge difference in terms of poly count.

The second thing I would do is buy more RAM. You can’t reasonably expect to render large images with 1 GB.

Sure, change the “Tracing Mode” to “Connect all Objects.”

    1. Are you talking about a texture for pupis? If so, put a stick texture tag on the eyes to make the texture move with the deformed geometry.

    2. Heirarchy is important when you use deformers with HN. If you put your object and the deformer under the HN object at the same heirarchy level, the object is smoothed first and then the bend is applied. OTOH, if you parent the deformer to the object(or put both under a null and null under the HN), the bend is applied first and then the HN smoothing is applied to the bent object. Try changing up the heirarchy and see if that helps.
