I’m new to C4D10 and I’ve created an illustration… I’ve got a scene with about 40 penguins on an iceberg. I can render out the screen (command-r) just fine – but when I try to render out to Picture Viewer a 4000 x 3000, it just says ‘preparing’… for hours. When I force a quit, it says that the application isn’t responding. Fair enough, I figure that the image is too large to render out a 4000 x 3000 tiff file (I have a gig of RAM); so I make the final output 2000 x 750… Still no go. I’ve gone all the way down to 800 x 600 and I still get the ‘preparing…’

I hope I’m just doing something wrong…. I’m assuming that if I’m able to render out the screen (command-r), that I should be able to render out to a tiff file….

    thanks,

The first thing I would do is check your HyperNURB objects. By default they’re set to subdivide twice in the editor and three times in the picture viewer. If you have a lot of HN objects that can make a huge difference in terms of poly count.

The second thing I would do is buy more RAM. You can’t reasonably expect to render large images with 1 GB.
