only trouble is i’m on 5.1.4, and it worked until this week.

i was hoping to avoid that – i had to do it last week after updating the kona driver, and it took ages to remember all my settings!!

i once had cause for complaint, and with no joy from the usual contact methods i tried emailing variants on sjobs@apple.com (s.jobs, stevejobs, steve.jobs, etc etc) and to my immense surprise i got a reply the very next day from the head of Apples European video team….
and they were very helpful.
This was a few years ago, but it might be worth a try…..adam

I have just been doing this very thing, and for me the uncompressed method was just far too big and cumbersome – 65 videos that needed 3 different .flv’s from each. After a bit of experimentation i stuck with using photo jpeg set to medium quality, and saved to Squeezes watch folder.
The final compressed flvs look no different from those squeezed from uncompressed source material and storage needs for the photo jpegs are about a tenth of that for uncompressed.

Shake works in a wide range of colour formats – you can use the colorspace node to change to and from rgb, cmy, hls, yiq, yuv .
its well explained in the manual, and also the tutorial books by Marco Paolini.
not so sure how its done in AE though.

thanks for replying, Durisdeer.
I’m not London either – manchester for me.Its certainly useful number to know what daily rates are actually getting paid. Especially as you have included the mark up put on by the facility when subcontracting you…
appreciate your candour

i can’t say for sure, as i haven’t used the set-up you described…However, i think you have answered your own problem. If it was shot 24p, then you must playback at 24p in order for it to be digitised at 24p.
Imagine taking a 33rpm vinyl record (ah those were the days!), switching the record deck to 45rpm and recording a copy to tape. There is no way that the tape will ever sound right because what you fed in was wrong to start with – same principle.
I’d redigitise with the correct camera attached then see if you still have the problem – good luck

a nice idea – but there is no way EVER that i could get them to pay that much!
But that does bring up an interesting question – how do you figure out what you earn for a company? especially when you work for the end client rather than an external company being hired to do a specific task that takes a finite time and therefore can be more easily quantified.
