Thanks David, i thought that might be the case.

    Oh well !

Don’t you just hate getting used to a feature in one package, then finding its not available in an other?

I’m certainly interested in beta testing new plugins.

I have just finished the effect i used volumetrix on – want me to email you a copy?

    Thanks Peter,

it was the width setting! I think i was getting muddled with the frame margin setting. The original try was cut off at the edges, so instinctively adjusted the width (as it was not wide enough).

I see the error of my ways!

some fine suggestions, everyone. Thanks for chipping in.

I personally find my best ideas come if i have the chance to forget the project for short while and allow my subconscious to work on it.

Sadly, its rare to have that luxury!

I particularly like the bingo card suggestion…unfortunately in the UK publishers seem very reluctant to give away free copies of anything. Smaller market = smaller margins i suppose, and finding a magazine to buy that is inspiring is almost impossible.

    think happy thoughts!

May 27, 2007 at 1:18 pm in reply to: FCS 2 Manuals

Walter, I think that there should be the option to have a printed manual or not, and certainly there should be a cost difference for having the manual. I personally prefer to have something i can hold and flick through. Whilst i usually know what i’m trying to find…i don’t always know the correct terminology and so a search would bring up spurious results at best. Pdf’s are great, but i don’t think they are a complete replacement for a big fat brick of a manual.

Plus, with a manual, you can always take 10 minutes to go sit in the sun and read it (just say the mac is rendering!)

May 21, 2007 at 10:29 pm in reply to: Audio Crackle

This post has got me worried!!

My K3 Breakout box has just developed an audio problem, and i have also traced it back to the RCA monitor out plugs. Basically, the right channel has ceased to work.

Not something i would expect of hardware only 10 months old, and located in a rack well away from knocks and bashes.

I doubt this is something a software upgrade will fix, and after speaking to the dealer i bought it from, was told its a known problem and my unit has to be shipped back to Aja. Which is a damn nuisance, as i’m in the UK, and they cannot locate a spare for me to use whilst the hardware is circumnavigating the globe. How can my edit suite be expected to operate without the video card (i know the card remains, but the spare set of breakout cables that came with the card seem to be different cables to those i use with the breakout box!! Hence, my sdi – dbeta workflow is compromised).

I do hope this is something they can solve quickly!!

May 7, 2007 at 11:13 pm in reply to: Back-up options?

    thanks for all the replies.

I can see i have a lot more thinking to do. Its one thing to backup, but a whole other area deciding what to back up, how often and what method!

In an ideal world, i’d back up my entire raid in 5mins, onto a single little hard disc/tape/whatever, and pop it in my bag before leaving for the night. Hey, we can all dream!
