Hi Peter, I’m guessing you will answer this one….

I was trying to recreate an effect i have done previously in Volumetrix, but for some reason i could not get it to happen this time.

Essentially I want to reveal text with a light sweep (just like you do on the demo movie for volumetrix – lower thirds). I could get the light to sweep across (or up/down) but as soon as the effect begins all the text is revealed prior to the sweep passing over.

I realise this is probably down to one of the settings being out, but which one controls the appearance of the text??

    thanks in advance

    Adam

ps. when is the TDF starting this year? and will it be on ITV2 again? You lucky chap, you!

    Adam,

have you tried the width control? How about the three way toggle for displaying the original?

[lightning ad] “ps. when is the TDF starting this year? and will it be on ITV2 again? You lucky chap, you!”

The Tour starts on the 7th although there is a live programme on the friday. I’m working on it from the monday onwards.

    Thanks Peter,

it was the width setting! I think i was getting muddled with the frame margin setting. The original try was cut off at the edges, so instinctively adjusted the width (as it was not wide enough).

I see the error of my ways!

    regards

    Adam,

No problem 😉 Have you tried the new Volumetrix transitions?
We also have something new on the back burner which you might be interested in giving the beta a thrash.

BTW, just in case anybody wonders what we are on about, the Volumetrix site is here

Volumetrix transitions? now that sounds like a useful plug-in. I’ve not trid them yet…where do i find them?

I’m certainly interested in beta testing new plugins.

I have just finished the effect i used volumetrix on – want me to email you a copy?

    Adam,

Volumetrix transitions are a free upgrade! So just download & install the latest copy of FxFactory and you will have them. They do a wipe and use rays from alpha or luminance. Very cool and great when wiping between text etc.

    https://www.noiseindustries.com/products/fxfactory/download/index.html

Anybody can download the above and try them out, you will get a 15 day free unwatermarked trial.

Some screengrabs of your project & a bit of info would be fantastic and probably make it onto idustrial revolution as a featured user!

    Hi Peter,

This is a stupid question, but I just want to make sure. If I get the FxFactory, I’ll get Volumetrix as well as the other plug-ins, right?

    Winston,

Volumetrix is a separate product that sells for $49. However, the free 15 day demo is bundled with the FxFactory installer as it requires the free FxFactory ‘engine’ to work.
