what i think you need is a video output card such as Kona3 or Blackmagic (there may be other less costly options). You are using the built-in dvi connections intended for computer monitors, which are not the same as video monitors.

i couldn’t open the link so i’m not sure quite what you mean, but i create looping dvds for some of our customers….its really simple.

Using DVDStudio Pro import your video, drag it to the icons window (i can’t remember the correct names for the various screens) right click on it then select First Play – a little play icon will appear on the button. Then in the Inspector just below the video title bar is a drop down which lets you select the action when the video finishes playing, simply set this to pick the video again. burn the dvd and you have created a feedback loop and your dvd will play forever.

(i simplified the process assuming you have a basic knowledge of DVDSP and making a disc – if not, sorry!)

sorry Dave – its already in a pre-comp. Thats why i’m baffled by the result….its also why i tried putting small amounts of z-depth on the layers to try maintain that spatial distance.

I’ve worked exclusively in 10bit uncompressed for the past two years as both the video editor and the compositor (another one-man band!!) and i have never had any problems of the sort you describe, Dave.

Having said that, i am in pal land and so it may be the problem is related to ntsc in conjunction with 10bit.

depends on the glitch !!

one really easy way would be to do it in your video edit package. Duplicate the frame either before or after the glitch, overlay it on the video layer above the glitch, then crop the overlayed layer so that just the video directly over the glitch is seen, revealing the whole of the correct frame with just a few scanlines of replacement video covering the glitch.

you need to use the “toggle keyframe hold” i think its called. This stops the animation from wandering between identical keyframes.
Aharon Rabinowitz explains it really well in one of his tutorials ( i think he refers to it as the boomerang effect).

Hi Rafael,

I already installed it as part of the Studio 8 package. Also just installed the Adobe Media Encoder CS4 (which looks like a more updated version of the same thing. The flv component is in the quicktime library but still no flash export within FCP.

I have been backing up to LTO3 tapes for the past year (I use Bakbone Netvault software and an Overland Arcvault Tape library drive). On friday, my Xserve Raid (3.5tb) became corrupted and i cannot access any data at all. Fortunately i had finished and sent out all my pre-christmas commercials only 3 days before.

Because the failure happened whilst i was installing a second raid onto a new macpro, I have been able to utilise the new raid and have set the backup system to restore the data onto the new raid.

Until yesterday, I looked on the tape drive as nothing more than a necessary evil and a bit of a drag having to change the tapes every so often. i doubt i will ever be quite so blaze about it again.

Get a tape system, its a proven technology that is recognised as less susceptible to degradation than hard drives (plus the tapes are actually quite a bit cheaper than drives)

I’m really glad we got one!

hmmm, how do i say this politely…I’ve got a Big Knob !!

Its absolutely spot-on for my edit suite. All my inputs to FCP are direct from digibeta, so i have no need for a mixing desk. The mackie Big Knob does have plenty of options for various sources, and plenty of other features that i rarely use.

One great option it does have is a mono/stereo switch, so you can easily check audio mixes for phase problems.
