  • Plug-in? 3-D Ken Burns + Keyframes

Posted by Phillip Roh on November 9, 2008 at 1:48 pm

Hello! I’m looking to purchase a plug-in. What I have in mind is that it would automatically apply a Ken Burns effect, but also in 3-D space (so the camera would do a very slight rotation around the picture). It should also be able to convert the filter settings to normal parameter keyframes.

Ideally it would be under $200 and could be installed on 2 machines :S. Any suggestions?

Try imageflow from core melt. It’s a life saver. You can get a lot of effects by tweaking the settings. They have a free 15 day trial version so you can check it out. Good luck

    Who’s Ken Burns?

    Is joke.

Most such work is done manually to retain all creative control. Just my opinion and I hope you find something useful but I shoudl think ’tis a waste of money to have After Effects employ a self-animating plugin. That’s what iMovie is for although, of course, it doesn’t have a 3D space.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

Jeez – I bet Ken Morse gets cheesed off with everyone calling Rostrum Camera effects after a director.

(if you are puzzled – that is the name of the guy whos name appeared after virtually every rostrum effect shot in the UK since before i was born in the late 60s)

To say “self animating” effects are a waste of money is a bit ridiculous. It’s exactly why Adobe introduced Animation presets to AE several versions back. If you’re a pro, you’re glad to have every tool in your belt that you can have. In the end it’s the finished product that matters.
