if you double click a clip in the timeline, the viewer will show the clip, and in the little timeline strip below the image, you should see the in / out points marked.

if you are exporting the audio for use in another audio application such as logic or ProTools, you could always export an OMF file, as this will retain all the layers, clips etc.

also you might find that once the edit is complete, and you take away your copy of the software, the client may not be able to open the project with an older copy of the application. At least not until they upgrade, and they may have reasons for not wanting to do this.

I find the easiest way to sample fonts is to open Font Book – under preview, select sample…type the actually words you want to use the font for, and then scroll through all the fonts on your system to see which you like the look of.
scrolling through is as simple as hitting the up/down arrows, so you can get through a lot pretty quickly.Adam Taylor

Andrew Kramer at Videocopilot has a tutorial and some download plug-ins that would be of immense use for you on this project.

download the presets that Andrew Kramer gives away at Videocopilot.net…one of his presets is called Bloom, and i think it might do just what you need…i just tried it myself and its pretty cool.

I dont have the complete answer, but i do remember this being mentioned in Mark Christiansens book (Studio Techniques). You really need your comp to be in 32 bit mode to retain the brightness when adding the lens blur. Also you may want to try using the Exposure filter as that is also 32bit aware, and can help with accurate light effects.

you can also create a dirt map using quicktime. create a movie the length you require, all black video.
Open it in Quicktime Pro, export your movie to another quicktime movie, and in the Movie Properties window select the Filter and look under Special Effects for Film noise….options for hair, scratches, dust, fading.Export your movie and import into AE to use as a dirt map.
