hard sell traditional TV commercial fonts
Posted by David Mayer on June 3, 2010 at 11:55 pmI’m doing a fast-paced, traditional 30-sec. TV spot for a window repair company. Need a FCP font that fits the situation. Suggestions?

June 4, 2010 at 4:38 amThere is no such thing and an “FCP font.” FCP uses the fonts your system has.
ARIAL BOLD is an option, as is IMPACT.
Open up MS Word or Text Edit, type what you want, then change it to all the fonts you have. Look for yourself what they all look like. That’s what I do.

A classic Chyron font from the 80’s that we used in a lot of cheap hard sell ads. Like car, furniture and lawyer spots.Scott Sheriff

June 4, 2010 at 7:42 amI find the easiest way to sample fonts is to open Font Book – under preview, select sample…type the actually words you want to use the font for, and then scroll through all the fonts on your system to see which you like the look of.
scrolling through is as simple as hitting the up/down arrows, so you can get through a lot pretty quickly.Adam Taylor
