Yup, was at nab. I didn’t like it. Lots of reasons. Very consumer, very noisy, pore lens, and I don’t like the 25mbit/s format. The live video out looked great, but tape playback looked like digital satilite breakup over most of the screen at the slightest hint of movement.

I am buying two of the pany hvx200, a real compressed hd format that I can edit over FW at about the same (interum codec) file sizes, and without the LONG MOG crap.

Actually the 10.4.1 update has been released (most notably for DVD player 4.6, and QT 7.0.2) and is available under software update if you have 10.4 installed.

The Developer kit runs SW update when 10.4.0 is installed automatically.

Did you install developer tools? That sometimes causes this problem.

Right click (control click) the downloaded and unstuffed installer “pkg” file. Select “open with…” and choose installer.

Yes you can… with a catch. Untill we get the control panel, wire up your decks like you want (say Dbeta sdi to svid). Then load the “easy set up for the input that your using (sdi in this case). Open log and capture, and then unplug the firewire from the io. presto, the io will now convert all day long from sdi to any of the outs without using fcp. Just power cycle the io to get back to normal.

Had the same problem. Drag motion to the trash, and all preference files, (search inside your system and user library directories for “motion”). Download this:

Restart, install motion, restart, run software update, restart.

And your done.

Buy a good drive and stick it in a good case. That way when the drive is DOA your replacement cost is minimized. Also a drive with an external power supply, although a hassle if the drive is portable, will reduce heat.

I have never had a problem with seagate drives in owc enclosures like this one:
