With the release of Tiger only about a week away, I know many of you are itching to install it and give it a try. However, the current Io drivers are NOT compatible with Tiger. Its my understanding (from multiple sources) that the new Io drivers will be released at about the same time as FCP 5 – sometime in May. Apple writes the drivers for the Io, but AJA and Apple have been working very closely together on support for both the Kona cards and the Io’s in FCP 5 (AJA probably has the best relationship with Apple of any video device manufacturer currently). For those of you with Kona 2 cards, the latest drivers are compatible with Tiger and FCP 5 (assuming Apple doesn’t make any last minute changes).

OK, gotta ask: why would anyone want to risk taking down a production machine with the .0 release of a major revision to the OS? Me: I’m not changing anything till Apple releases 10.4.1.

Actually the 10.4.1 update has been released (most notably for DVD player 4.6, and QT 7.0.2) and is available under software update if you have 10.4 installed.

The Developer kit runs SW update when 10.4.0 is installed automatically.
