December 12, 2009 at 11:24 am in reply to: Vegas Pro 9.0 vs FCP if starting from scratchwell, plugins that most people swear by include Excalibur & UltimateS – both have trial versions, so you can play before you pay. They certainly speed up various tasks in Vegas even more.
The Vegas Production Assistant is another tool that has a particular application, which can really help producing a series (ie automating repetitive render/edit tasks)
Batch rendering is easy with Vegas, tho one can extend it with either the PA mentioned above, or the Veggie Toolkit (google it).
background render: Vegas doesn’t render the current project while you work (which is what it normally means), but at the same time, you can open multiple copies of the program, and render in one while editing in another. VERY useful feature. Can obviously also copy/paste between open instances of vegas.
Vegas isn’t perfect, but we know no NLE is. It certainly is a fast editing tool, and usually requires less clicks to get something done that the competition

Just tried it, as hadn’t ever noticed a problem or heard of that before. Had .avi, .mov & mp4 in vegas multicam all playing quite happily.

December 3, 2009 at 7:14 am in reply to: FCP vs. Vegas: I Need To Make A Critical, Real World Decisionyou might have the awkward situation at the site where those who are campaigning for you to use FCP actively look for ways to trip you up /’I told you so!’
That would not be pretty.
If you’re in charge, I’d want to sit down with them, and demo the multi cam capability of vegas, and ask for their comments. Involve them etc. Since vegas would be a much faster solution for you due to the zero learning curve, I’d ask them how many would be keen to move to PC for a project, if they were in your shoes.
your diplomatic skills will be as important as the software, for whichever software you end up using….

December 3, 2009 at 7:04 am in reply to: Can Vegas pro edit multiple camera views at the same time?yep. vegas has been able to do that for about 5 years (?) or so, at least.
3 options:
1) use the built-in tool
2) use UltimateS plugin from https://www.vasst.com
3) use Excalibur plugin from https://www.jetdv.com/excalibur/home.php
Vasst also has a tool called infiniticam IIRC, which is simpler than UltimateS, ie is far less powerful
The built-in tool is fast and effective, but the 2 main alternatives give you more flexibility. Can try them both on demo version
here is an article on the cow of what was possible in vegas back in 2005: https://library.creativecow.net/articles/duncan_timothy/stellars.php

November 14, 2009 at 2:20 pm in reply to: Long Distance: It’s the next best thing to being there….if he’s just doing cuts and dissolves, you could get around the issue of different versions of vegas by saving the project as AAF file, and the recipient could then import that into their version of vegas…….

add the mpeg2 only
then change the media properties (top right) for the audio, to the wav you have rendered
-
you could right click it, and select in media bin. Once you’ve found that, right click the media and choose replace
OR
if you didn’t want to replace the media since it’s been used elsewhere, you could drag the new media with the RIGHT mouse button on to the existing media in the timeline, and choose to add as a TAKE.
-
you is right, sadly.

Nope, AFAIK
use Pan/Crop for zooming, and track motion for the movement. Is the way it is.
