  • Can Vegas pro edit multiple camera views at the same time?

Posted by Tony Mazzorana on December 3, 2009 at 4:50 am

I am looking to make Vegas my main editing system.

I wanted to know if Vegas has a multi camera editing mode, where 2 or 3 different camera views can be mixed together with ease? If so, do you like it? How does it work?

My current system has a feature called “Quadcam” and I can load up to 4 different camera views and edit all of them together as they play back in real time. All I do is watch my monitors and pick the view I want. It even allows me to go back and re-edit a cut that missed its mark by allowing me a 3 second leaway on either side of the clip. In other words, I can take the clip and extend it 3 additional seconds on either end to cover up a glick I missed and it remains insink.

    Thanks for your help.

yep. vegas has been able to do that for about 5 years (?) or so, at least.

    3 options:

    1) use the built-in tool

    2) use UltimateS plugin from https://www.vasst.com

    3) use Excalibur plugin from https://www.jetdv.com/excalibur/home.php

Vasst also has a tool called infiniticam IIRC, which is simpler than UltimateS, ie is far less powerful

The built-in tool is fast and effective, but the 2 main alternatives give you more flexibility. Can try them both on demo version

here is an article on the cow of what was possible in vegas back in 2005: https://library.creativecow.net/articles/duncan_timothy/stellars.php

    10 cameras………. 🙂

Can UltimateS and Excalibur handle multi-cam clips in diffrent formats like .avi and .mov at the same time. I know Vegas can’t. I have to re-render each clip to the same format then use the Vegas multi cam function. This works fine just takes time.

    Thanks!

Byron, I hate to say it but you’re mistaken.
Vegas can do this quite easily as I’ve done it before and so have a lot of other users.
If your computer can’t do it, then I’d be checking it out to see what’s wrong with it.

Agreed with the Hon Mr Kujbida 🙂

Just tried it, as hadn’t ever noticed a problem or heard of that before. Had .avi, .mov & mp4 in vegas multicam all playing quite happily.
